In the parable of the unforgiving servant Jesus tells us that to have an unpayable debt forgiven we must commit to forgiving even small debts to us by our fellows else we be cast into hell and tortured until the debt is repayed, which means eternity.

So many of those who call themselves Christian today see trans people as owing God and society a debt: to live as something they are not. I do not think Christ's message agrees, and I think Christians themselves are playing the unforgiving servant even if you think such a debt exists. I wish all of Christ's followers in my life a moment of jubilee, and I hope they will grant the same to those around them.

Happy Easter
