You folks were super enthusiastic about my posting more on Mastodon, so let's try this.

RT/boost and let's see if there's interest in a regular #Ukraine thread!

Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands.

For the last year, I've been tracking a notorious Russian unit known for its role in killing 100s of civilians.

This past month we published how we found them.

@timkmak You may reach a larger audience with content warnings. Maybe worldpol or something similar. I'd boost this if it had a content warning on it.
@allenstenhaus tell me more. I’m not familiar

@timkmak It depends on which platform you're accessing from, but posts have the ability to add content warnings. It's most commonly used for violence & sexual content, but many in the fediverse appreciate it for politics as well.

For instance, I like to be informed, but some days it's too much. Adding a CW lets people opt out if they choose.

Many on Fedi will not boost certain topics without CWs.

Sharing your thoughts has never been more convenient.

@timkmak If you're accessing through a phone app, not all have the CW feature. Tusky does. I'm not sure if the official app has that feature yet, as it's a bit behind on development.

I appreciate you asking for more information. Some journalists ignore the culture here thinking CWs are censorship. In fact, not using them is a good way to censor yourself.

I'll often use them if talking about my cannabis use, as a recovering drug addict may not want to hear about any drug use.
