The "L" in LDAP stands for "Lightweight", which is nearly as appropiate as the "S" in "SOAP" ("simple"). Never believe adjectives in acronyms!

@domm i mean compared to DAP from X.500 it is simple. that’s the lightweight it refers to.

@petrillic Fair :-) And I have nightmares from debugging Z39.50 search connections (for #Koha). So I guess we can agree that cool-sounding letter/number combos from the 80/90ies are even worse. I guess that's why nowadays everything is JSON over HTTP 🙂
