I'm experimenting to see if I could use Midjourney for some Sofa marketing images.

Let's see how this goes…

Prompt 1

a woman in her early 30s laying on a sofa reading a book. She is in a cozy, sun-filled room and is engrossed in the story she is reading. 35mm lens, f/ 1.8, portra 400, --v 5 --ar 4:3

I asked for variations on image 3

Not bad, but not quite the vibe I"m looking for. Also, their faces all look messed up

New Prompt!

a woman in her early 30s laying on a sofa reading a book. She is in a cozy, sun-filled room and is engrossed in the story she is reading. 35mm lens, f/ 1.8, portra 400, realistic, photographic, center framing, cozy clothes, --v 5 --ar 4:3

One woman is falling asleep reading an index card and another has a GIANT book!

Prompt 3:

a woman in her early 30s laying on a sofa reading a novel. She is in a cozy, sun-filled room and is engrossed in the story she is reading. 35mm lens, f/ 1.8, colorful room with lots of texture, realistic, photographic, center framing, she is wearing a sweater and sweatpants, --ar 4:3 --v 5

This is getting closer to the vibe I want, but still some odd stuff happening, like 3+ hands

Asked for variations on image 3

Why is everyone falling asleep?

Prompt 4:

a woman in her early 30s laying on a sofa reading a small novel. She is in a cozy, sun-filled room and is awake. 35mm lens, f/ 1.8, colorful room with lots of texture, realistic, photographic, center framing, she is wearing a sweater and sweatpants, the sofa is blue --ar 4:3 --v 5

I disinctly asked for them to be awake and half are still sleeping lol

Asked for variations on image 4

Not too bad. Midjourney is def struggling to get the perspective of a book right. Also, all of these books look like children’s books, not novels.

wtf is this? I asked for 5 cats and a bird. New species?

New Prompt:

couple on sofa watching tv, glow from tv is lighting the room, cat on lap, blankets, snacks, realistic, photographic, porta 400, 35mm lens --ar 4:3 --v 5 --c 10

Top right is got some real weird vibes and I dig it. Bottom left looks like the cat is *inside* the guy?

Variations on the weird vibes one

In case you're wondering, none of this is usable. Just wanted to experiment a bit. It's likely that I'm not writing very good prompts either.

Anyways I hope you got some laughs, I know I did 😆

@shawn that was a cool experiment! One thing I’ve noticed though… Midjourney did not produce a single image with a person of colour…
@Rlfb oh yea it’s a big gap right now. You have to explicitly prompt for a person of color.
@shawn This is terrible! It doesn't bode well for diversity and the kind of biases these models will re-enforce…
@Rlfb yea I don't know how they'll solve it at the model layer. The other solution is to educate people like ourselves to write more inclusive prompts
@shawn I’m not entirely sure how these models work but I'd assume there is some tagging to describe subjects? If so, it’s possible that white women were tagged as “woman" whereas women of colour were tagged as "black woman" (for example). Just an hypothesis 🤔
