I find myself so much less inclined to boost anything without native quote posts on this platform. It makes it very hard to share anything interesting that scrolls across my timeline without laundering it and making it ‘mine’. I don't want to have to take complete responsibility for every neat thing I want to add a few words of context to 😮‍💨
@stroughtonsmith look no further than @IceCubesApp and then never look back
@samvarma @IceCubesApp it's no good to me if only a couple clients do this and nobody else can see it
@stroughtonsmith @samvarma But it’s still just an URL, nothing magical. Ice Cubes simply embed any toot URL to save you one click. I agree that not having them embedded on the web / native UI is less than stellar.
@IceCubesApp @samvarma click-through on raw URLs is always very low, it's why I always get people to include screenshots of anything they want to share in my app threads. Nobody reads, nobody clicks — but previews work 🥲
@stroughtonsmith @IceCubesApp that's also the one thing that has me loving ice cubes: previews are generated inline from links in posts, which gives me invaluable context. @ivory does not do this and honestly I can't live without it
