It makes it very hard to share anything interesting that scrolls across my timeline without laundering it and making it ‘mine’. I don't want to have to take complete responsibility for every neat thing I want to add a few words of context to 😮💨

IceCubesApp@stroughtonsmith @samvarma But it’s still just an URL, nothing magical. Ice Cubes simply embed any toot URL to save you one click. I agree that not having them embedded on the web / native UI is less than stellar.
@IceCubesApp @samvarma click-through on raw URLs is always very low, it's why I always get people to include screenshots of anything they want to share in my app threads. Nobody reads, nobody clicks — but previews work 🥲
@stroughtonsmith @IceCubesApp that's also the one thing that has me loving ice cubes: previews are generated inline from links in posts, which gives me invaluable context. @ivory does not do this and honestly I can't live without it
