This morning in the Federal Court House in Boston...

Federal Judge: "Jury member number 8 (JMN8), what is you profession?"

JMN8: "I am a professor."

Federal Judge: "What field?"

JMN8: "My PhD is in sociology and I am a professor of sociology and environmental studies."

Federal Judge (after briefly speaking with attorneys on both sides): "Jury member number 8, you are excused."

@andrew_jorgenson weird, you think that this is usual or that there's something behind?
@pmeyfroidt Great question! This seems to be a pretty common experience for professors in the US.
@andrew_jorgenson Ah OK!, so not to be interpreted as a distrust against environmental sociology :-)
@pmeyfroidt Shoot, I hope not! 🙂
