I'm sad to hear of the death of board game designer Klaus Teuber. He designed many highly regarded board games, winning the Spiel des Jahres award four times between 1988 and 1995. The Settlers of Catan, his most famous game, was instrumental in getting me back into boardgaming.
@mfowler
Sad to hear that. 😒 I've heard a lot about that game, never played yet.
Would you suggest it for a 7yo kid that loves Carcassonne?
@AAMfP As I don't have kids, I'm not a good person for age-specific suggestions. But I don't think of it as much more complex than Carcassonne
@mfowler
Yep, true. Sorry Martin: I've even asked you the same, before. 🤦🏻‍♂️
@AAMfP @mfowler we’ve played both with our kids at that age. Works fine.

@mfowler Settlers of Catan brought me into the fold, ages ago, and it's still one of my favourites.

It really defined a new style of boardgame (at least to North Americans): no player elimination, no blowing up or attacking other players stuff, a great balance of luck and skill, simple enough you can play with your kids, and playable in under 1.5 hours.
