Vintage sewing books recommendations? Please share, I would like to broaden my skill. Especially if these books have pattern drafts. #sewing #vintagesewing #vintagesewingpatterns
@StatesideSali I have the Springer Sewing Book from the early 60s. Lots of home décor but also some clothing patterns.
@somcak @StatesideSali Patternmaking for Fashion Design, Helen Joseph Armstrong, Second edition. It is nothing but pattern drafts and principles, almost 800 pages worth. (When I researched this book ages ago there was a reason e2 was best, but I don't remember it).
@somcak @kelleynnn @StatesideSali You may have a look here https://archive.org/details/patternmakingfor0000jose_q3g3/mode/1up (archive.org has other editions as well)

@StatesideSali I inherited the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing. My edition is from the 70s, and they are not exaggerating about the "complete" part in the title. It doesn't have pattern drafts as such, but the sections on measurements, adjustments, and tailoring are extensive.
@StatesideSali The one I like is not so much a vintage book as a recent-ish book about vintage sewing, which includes some pattern drafting - Sew Over It Vintage by Lisa Comfort. Lots of very do-able projects with a vintage feel to them
