Spent half my sunday cleaning up the genome annotation for the yeast strain #cenpk (used widely in industrial fermentation #synbio). I wrote some #fsharp alignment tools to compare gene order with the gold standard #s288c genome and found shocking errors everywhere (paralogs misnamed, subunits swapped). Finally took a look at the manuscript to see how they did the original work and it's all crystal clear
@dplattsf I'm so sick of reading methods like that. It's the bioinformatics equivalent to "we performed the experiments by moving a bunch of liquids around using in house micropipettes".
