Imagining not understanding the difference between paying for the output of hundreds of talented journalists and paying for Twitter to put a tiny blue check next to content you produce for Twitter for free

Elon Musk on Twitter

“@dogeofficialceo @nytimes NY Times is being incredible hypocritical here, as they are super aggressive about forcing everyone to pay *their* subscription”

Twitter
@juddlegum His army of Flying Monkeys IS that stupid though.
@juddlegum
ELoon's silver spoon seems to have made him denser than a door nail or something.
@GreenFire @juddlegum Musk wasn’t born with a Silver Spoon in his mouth! Get your facts straight! It was an emerald encrusted spoon.
@juddlegum I had Twitter Blue long before Elon showed up. Back then, a blue checkmark wasn't among the features/benefits, and I couldn't care less about the checkmark. OK, I do. I alter my profile every time they add it back, forcing them to temporarily remove it until my profile is verified again, I've repeated this process countless times. I wish there were a "no checkmark" option.
@juddlegum Elon should have just bought Wordle and saved us some headaches.
@juddlegum
Musk, the genius, can't figure out how to turn ads tied to major news postings, to the point that original news sources are hurt (Google, Facebook, etc.), wants cash up front.
@juddlegum would be a great argument if the NYT weren't shit about actually getting that $$ to their journalist and doing stock buybacks instead
Elon Musk Proves Yet Again That He's Just Not Very Bright

America's dumbest smart guy strikes again with an idiotic take on subways.

I don’t understand how the NYT are the “paper of record “, especially when I read your reports.
@juddlegum Elon throwing a fit because NYT won’t pay for a checkmark is hilarious. Imagine if the NYT stopped buying Post-It Notes and the CEO of 3M threw a public tantrum about it.
@juddlegum my power company is incredibly hypocritical. They are super aggressive about making me pay *their* subscription (my house gets very cold if I don’t), but when I asked them to pay me $1000/month for premium access to my web site, they declined.

@cohomologyisFUN @juddlegum This IS the same guy that got upset that some "site" shut down fascist and anti-semitic speech.

So he bought it for $44B to have to defenestrate the Yeet'd himself. Expensive tantrum is underselling it, lol.

@juddlegum

But paying their subscription actually has a reason and a function, his is just to have a stupid checkmark and basically give him money. Can't he just open a patreon.
