I like presidents who don't casually commit felonies on their way to the presidency.

NEW YORK (AP) β€” Former President Donald Trump is facing multiple charges of falsifying business records, including at least one felony offense, in the indictment handed down by a Manhattan grand jury, two people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Friday.

@TonyStark β€œThe Trump campaign said it raised $4-plus million in the first 24 hours after news of the indictment broke."
@Pepper @TonyStark Remember when Trump said he was a rich guy and a billionaire who’d never ask for donations?

@Heimdall @Pepper @TonyStark πŸ˜ŽπŸ€‘ Enjoy this again:

"Trump says his comeback began when he recognized a downturn in the real estate market and quickly asked banks to renegotiate his loans. β€œThat decision was perhaps the smartest thing I did,” he wrote.

The six bankers and lawyers involved in the talks say the bailout wasn’t based on any overture Trump initiated with the banks - and the terms of the deal were dictated by what was best for the banks, not Trump.

***Three of the participants say Trump didn’t acknowledge he had a problem until his lenders reviewed his books, realized he was on the brink of collapse, and summoned him for debt restructuring talks.***..."

Art of the spin: Trump bankers question his portrayal of financial comeback

Donald Trump, who often says he only likes winners, tells one grand tale of loss: In 1990, he nearly went bankrupt and was forced to ask dozens of banks to whom he owed money to change the terms on their loans and forgive some of his debts.

@ArenaCops @Heimdall @Pepper @TonyStark But why do that when they could have just seized everything that wasn't nailed down...
@toxtethogrady @Heimdall @Pepper @TonyStark Maybe they found it more promising to let him go on practicing The Art of the Mismanagement, trusting his capabilities to defraud enough gullible clients to refund, what he owed them.

@toxtethogrady @ArenaCops @Heimdall @Pepper @TonyStark

"If you owe a million dollars to your bank, you have a big problem. If you owe a billion dollars, your bank has a big problem."

@JorgeStolfi @toxtethogrady @Heimdall @Pepper @TonyStark Thx. Right. For the banks damage control was the tool of choice, for their & their customers' good, not primarily Trump's.

@Heimdall @Pepper @TonyStark It's all too worth to remember, that he once said, that he loves to play with OPM β€” Other People's Money.
For his sole personal gain.

He also once confessed he'd "possibly" be making money from running for & holding public office.

@Heimdall @Pepper @TonyStark Now he's a guy who asks for donations whenever he can. I'd rather support the @TexasObserver

Dr. John Bridges' Defence of the Government of the Church of England, 1587:

If they pay a penie or two pence more for the reddinesse of them... let them looke to that, a foole and his money is soone parted.

@Boxers4Prez @Pepper @TonyStark not much has changed; just different distractions

@Pepper @TonyStark Career criminals won't stop criming without accountability, and with pathological disregard for right & wrong.
Trump won't stop, if not held impressively & sustainably accountable.

@Pepper @TonyStark Well, when you got Lindsey Graham crying on TV like he's Sally Struthers with a puppy, of course...

@TonyStark Criminal seems to be a feature, not a bug, for the law and order party.

They never get to call themselves that again.

@MariaHill I don't believe any Republican Party platform or principle has ever called for supporting the rule of law.

Donald Trump has several times, most recently with respect to the looming indictment, called for his supporters to ignore the rule of law. The eminently distinguished Tucker Carlson (/ s x1,000,000) has now joined in that call.

People like these see the rule of law as an impediment.

@TonyStark @MariaHill If the rule of law depends on the the Republicans then we might as well kiss it goodbye right now. Led by Donald Trump the Republican Party would end the rule of law this second. It is up to the rest of us to make sure the rule of law will survive.
@TonyStark
When they call Democrats soft on crime they're distinguishing themselves as getting hard for crime.
