A really critical lesson of the Trump era is that there is no one - absolutely no one - who is so repulsive, stupid, or unhinged that our media will not normalize them once they obtain a sufficient amount of political power https://twitter.com/60Minutes/status/1641863327415410691

“Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, nicknamed MTG, isn’t afraid to share her opinions, no matter how intense and in-your-face they are. She sits down with Lesley Stahl this Sunday on 60 Minutes. https://t.co/mEN4CWeXMW”

It's like media hires mostly journalists from sport magazines, and they look at national politics like a sporting event. In sporting events, there is no real consequence to fans or even indifferent people depending upon who wins.

But state and national politics has consequences for all citizens, and should not be covered like an inconsequential game.

@froomkin They've been doing that since long before Trump.
@froomkin 60 minutes is an extremely reactionary program. Has been for a long time. But yeah the larger point is also correct
@froomkin No one *on the right* they won't do this for. They would absolutely lose their marbles if AOC was in a position to become president.
All about who the wealthy ownership and C-suite find acceptable or unacceptable.
@froomkin Shame on everyone to do with putting this monstrosity on the airwaves. WE DONT NEED TO GIVE THEM A SPOTLIGHT.
@froomkin Why anyone on God's green earth would give MTG a forum and one as well respected as 60 min is beyond me. She absolutely has the right of free speech but no moral compass to use with it. Ratings are one thing but we should be giving her exactly the amount of respect that she gives to everyone else. None!
