Fiction writing question for my fellow #trans folk:

Let’s say you’ve transitioned and you pass and you have for years and you’re at a time in your life where nobody around you knows and you haven’t mentioned it. Until now.

Are you coming out or breaking stealth? Or is there another term for it? #transthings

@solient That's a good question. I feel like breaking stealth has a more accurate vibe to it, although I selfishly want this to be called "dropping the cloaking field."
@miriamrobern in the text I’ve been referring to it as the character “revealing herself.” 🤔
@solient @miriamrobern Maybe "opening up about her past?" It's more about unpleasant history than who she really is now.
@substandard @solient Yeah, hard concur. "Revealing herself" seems to imply that the most important thing about her is that she's trans, and especially if she's years past transition, that's probably not the case.
@miriamrobern @substandard (it is super important actually as she’s most of the way there and finishing up would be a higher priority if not for plot.)
@substandard @miriamrobern "Opening Up" has positive connotations for me; it's definitely a possible choice. :3
@substandard @miriamrobern (it especially works in this context as the character is unknowingly teased into a massive massive trauma dump, which is very gender related)
