@sashafox @juddlegum all gun ranges I've ever been to will require due diligence and safety.
And whilst I've seen kids aged 12+ do shooting sports like benchrest, they certainly are under professional supervision and don't get to handle anything that would require any permit beyond their parental consent.
So basically only Airsoft [maximum 0,5J] and maybe air rifles that max out at 7,5J.
For Comparison: A paper ball from a straw can exceed that...

OFC people should keep their guns out of reach and not like #Boebert (put a loaded AR-15 with bolt to the rear and safety off on a shelf for everyone to grab from)...

Not even armouries of military and police spechal forces would act so grossly neglectful, and I've seen Philipino cops that are so "trigger-happy" that they'll magdump if asked to unholster, take one shot onto a target at the shooting gallery and then holster the gun back safely...
@sashafox @juddlegum because as much as I'd call such people "psychosocially unfit for service - espechally armed" [I'm neither a psychologist nor in charge of that decision] they ain't suicidal and won't point that shit unsafely.
