It's so annoying when a debate is about where to draw the line in weighing one human right vs. another and both sides just pretend they are the only one advocating for rights.

We've seen it with #COVID (right to life vs. bodily autonomy), we see it in the #firearm/#gun debate (right to life vs. right to own property), etc.

And nothing ever comes of those debates because everyone would rather pretend it's a black-and-white issue than take on the difficult task of building a case for why a line should be drawn here and not there.

And admitting that a strongly held position comes down to "I value X more than Y", and by conclusion, that someone else could reasonably disagree simply because they value Y a lot more, is scary. It means we can't just shout at each other anymore and call ourselves the good ones.
