Happy March 28!

A Macintosh SE

This is one of the Lake Washington School District stamped Macs. Runs fine, quiet fan even! IDK why I put the modems with it, but that box jumped out of the pile at me.

The boxed modem was the first modem my Dad bought. He is not a tech person, but thought it would be cool to fax from the computer. Never figured it out, and then had the Performa which came with the GV modem and this thing has been boxed ever since.

@likesoldmacs i've never seen that apple branded modem before. it has the strange expansion block on the rear.. is that a scsi connector?

it reminds me a bit of the "TelePort" (GeoPort?) modems that came out years later

@vga256 @likesoldmacs it’s an Apple Cat modem, NOT SCSI (was made to work with the Apple II)

@bradexample @likesoldmacs so cool! no wonder i'd never seen one before.

the only other mac(-only) modem i've seen before was their slab-style one that sat underneath a standard ITT telephone. loved that design!

@vga256 @bradexample love the old one that was designed to sit under an old school phone!

The one out of the box in front is an Apple Personal Modem, which came along with the 512k I recently acquired (and is different from the one in the Magnum box). It's a mini din serial connector for the Mac. Apparently its guts are a regular ol Hayes modem.

@likesoldmacs @vga256 you’re right , Apple Personal Modem, not the Apple Cat…. here’s mine I just dig out
@bradexample @likesoldmacs ah neat, that "expansion port" was just the interchangeable power adapter 😆
