@flexghost I wonder if it's possible that these people don't realize the damage they're causing. Or don't see their culpability in this supposed radicalization. Willfully or otherwise. I'm not defending them. But I see so much of this it's almost like people just don't or can't see what's going on.

Of course they know. I still am not sure if I like marmite or not but I’m not going to spend time energy and money going on a press junket telling everyone about it. They spend time energy and money on hate because they believe in it.
@flexghost not at all. I've just worked with people my entire working life, including as a pastor, and more often than not people are clueless about how their actions impact others. The Musks and Desantises of the world know what they're doing. 100%. But with obvious exceptions, the person on the street is being strung along. And when these a-holes have moved on, the regular person won't even notice they've been forgotten.

@sphinx @flexghost the Desantises and such definitely do. But the regular person often has a hard time seeing past their own bubble. They hear the talking points and the rhetoric and follow along cuz it sounds good, not realizing they are causing any real harm. Cuz it doesn't directly affect them. But let a politician suggest restricting a right they hold dear and watch what happens. But that often doesn't translate into empathy. People tend to be terribly selfish.
"I don't care when politicians kill people who aren't ME" isn't just selfish, it's depraved. There's no neutrality here; you're either fighting for the oppressed, or you're siding with the oppressor.
