They're not "saying the quiet part out loud". They're confident enough now that there no longer *is* a quiet part.

BTW, the guy who tweeted this theocratic crap? Typical GOP hack who thinks rules don't apply to him.

"Higgins has appeared and spoken at events organized by fringe, anti-government militia groups such as the Three Percenters and the Oath Keepers." [Wikipedia]

He's also apparently used his "reserve" position with Louisiana law enforcement for personal gain.

And then there's this hilarious "throw some red meat to the base" bit of word salad that prompted a response from Dictionary.com:

@bmc When was the last time this guy was actually *in* a library?
@bmc holy crap. "church-owned libraries"?!?
@bmc so they are advocating THEOCRACY..same crap TALIBAN pedals..IRAN.. wow.
@bmc Why TF would we want our public library system to run by the fuckin' church? Have any of these people even heard of the Constitution?
@slcw They only care about the very small part of the Constitution they didn't actually read but have heard about, kind of. For example, the Second Amendment. As for the rest of it? Well, it's only useful insofar as it can serve to bludgeon the people they don't like.
@bmc I actually think they do care about the Constitution, but only insofar as it applies to them. If you're not a mean-spirited, white, heterosexual, Christian nationalist, they don't think the Constitution applies to you.

@slcw I still maintain that a surprisingly large number of them don't really know what most of the Constitution says. Ask them about the 6th (or 7th or 8th) Amendments, for instance. Ask them about the 3rd Amendment — and, importantly, why it exists.

They. Don't. Know.

@bmc Overtime, churches will dry up as more people see them as more fascist than christian. ban the bible.
Book ban lawmaker "very sad" that a parent is using his law to ban the “sex-ridden” Bible

The parent said that if lesser books have been banned, then the Bible, which discusses infanticide, rape, and bestiality, is not appropriate for kids.

@bmc The solution: Make Christo-fascism A Target Again.

Tweet from Rep. Clay Higgins, 23 Mar 2023:

"Over time, American communities will build beautiful, church owned public-access libraries. I’m going to help these churches get funding. We will change the whole public library paradigm.

The libraries regular Americans recall are gone. They’ve become liberal grooming centers."
