Amazon is about to kill & delete the vast photography resource DPReview or Digital Photography Review. It's been run as a passion project for decades & was acquired by Amazon some years ago.

All of its vast stash of camera & lens reviews & forums discussing them are due to vanish forever.
All that love over dacades, just … gone.
I haz such a sad. :(*

The deadline for Amazon stopping DPReview from adding any new content is

10 APRIL

and shortly after that, Amazon will delete it ALL.

We've hit over 5000 signatures already! But to increase the chances of Amazon at least leaving the site up as a reference, please please please help us get the signatures on this petition up to 7500?

Dpreview is a great photography site we need to keep. Please please boost this post & sign this petition?

One more day before the (formerly, woot!)-set-in-stone deadline to delete DPReview!

It seems there has been some movement on this issue but still more signatures are needed.

Please please please sign this petition to persuade Amazon to allow DPReview to continue, at least as a readable archive and at best as it has been with new content still being added!

Well, I'm speculating here, but it's always possible that the site could've gone under those years ago without the Amazon cash injection, so there's that.

But yeah, we all know Amazon is evil and we don't have a time machine to go back and fix it.

All we can do right now is sign the petition and try to get others to sign it also. I hope you will, please?

I don't know, but even if it has I'm fairly certain Amazon would chase that up and shoot it down there and everywhere, don't you think?

Yes it has, but previous observation still applies. I've seen content owners get their sites deleted off the wbm more than once.

The fifth biggest company of 2022 can't afford to employ the 11 staff members that work to keep the site going?! What capitalist bullspit!! The important information on there is will well worth the 0.0000000...% of company outlay they'll save for share holders greed.

I know, the decades of countless hours of human investment of creative input and research, what kind of brain thinks all that is worthless enough to destroy without a single one of many options to preserve it outside their jurisdiction which will cost them nothing?

I prefer to restrict my worrying to the things I can actually control.
In this case, it's either sign the petition or not.
Once I stopped watching broadcast television, news and ads, my mental health got millions better.
Now I only watch what I choose and feel loads better for it.
