Three children and two adults were murdered today in a school shooting in Nashville. Here are the gun laws in Tennessee:

NO state permit required to purchase

NO firearm registration

NO owner license required

NO permit required for concealed carry

NO permit required for open carry

NO background checks for private sales

And the state can preempt local laws.

@charlotteclymer Here’s the Republican congressman gerrymandered into representing the Covenant School district. It had been a Democratic district since 1875. In 2020 the state legislature shredded it so they could take back the House.

So basically every gun in the state is untraceable. If used in a crime in another state, the cops in that state won’t be able to trace ownership.

@charlotteclymer I think any European will struggle to make sense of the lack of gun regulation in Tennessee (and other Republican voting states).

If you hadn’t named where the shooting had happened, I think many would have assumed the description was of a war-torn developing country, not the supposed leader of the Free World.

@charlotteclymer If the second amendment is the problem, then clearly it should be abolished. I am sure they founders had no idea what this amendment would cause. Not that it is being interpreted correctly but for the love of God, stop the slaughter.
