Hey does anyone know what's going on with ottr.social? They seem to have gone offline.

@hack13 - have you heard anything? I wasn't sure if you had an admin contact since it was listed on furryfediverse.

@ProfWolf sadly the only admin contact information we collect is the admin account of the site. With the site being gone that sadly would mean we don't have any other information really.

While we ask people who list to inform users of shutdowns we sadly have no way of enforcing this and we don't really know of a good way of handling gathering contact info without violating privacy concerns. @brodokk @Oric opinions?

@hack13 @ProfWolf @Oric For me what we have is enough, we cant publish information that admins don't want to publish.

What we could do tho, its to have something like a "health" about it if they come back online. We can add a score about the trustability of the instance for example. Seems fair to me

@brodokk @hack13 @Oric

A health check (or health history) could definitely be interesting information.

To the concern about privacy, would asking admins include at least one contact email be a privacy hazard, even if it's built for purpose (like [email protected])

@ProfWolf @hack13 @Oric hum... the thing is this is an open form so anyone could enter any email address.

But now the admin of the instance still need to click on a link who is send via a post to them to validate the registration. In the worst case the admin ignore the post and resend the form.

I think it could actually work if we add this field to the form no?
