This feels like the first episode (pilot).

1️⃣ The early scenes do a lot to introduce the premise of the series, and the characters are slightly more formal with one another.

2️⃣ It’s shot on location. No studio sets made to look like the outdoors. And it looks great. Particularly when there are rolling hills in the background, or a strong breeze is blowing. Which is most of the time.

3️⃣ The focus is very much on Dusty. We see that he’s a complete blunderer, but the script ensures that he still saves the day more than once. By accident.

4️⃣ The story involves Indians. Which feels like the most obvious thing for a 1973 Western pilot to feature. Even a comedy one.
