@realhackhistory
The future was so bright!
@railmeat I just want my heads up display :(
@realhackhistory ngl idk how those people manage to look both like neckbeards AND incredibly cool hackerman-esque but here we are somehow XD
@realhackhistory my guess is spring 1995, as they were frequently walking around the Media Lab while wearing the gear. there's a decent chance I was in the building behind them when the photo was taken.

@realhackhistory On the far left is Steve Mann, who wears his cyborg setup to this day. A buddy of mine took a class from him at UTorronto and said that he would only lecture in halls that were integrated with his system.

On the far right is Thad Starner, who works as a staff research scientist at Googs and was a tech lead on Google Glass.

Scientific American Frontiers, Season 7, episode 1. The MIT cyborgs show up 36 minutes in.

Edit: I prefer to link to the production company's site as above, but YT also lets me link directly to the segment, so here's that, too.

Scientific American Frontiers - Season 7

@realhackhistory I would be shocked if atleast a few of them aren't women now... Lol
@realhackhistory the guy on the far left, doesn’t he have some of his kit actually physically attached to him?
@realhackhistory stop, I can only get so aroused.
@realhackhistory it's sad to think that these promising six were buried in an avalanche of pussy
