And those of us who have nothing but our Social Security to live on are told we have gotten a large COL increase this year - 8% (when the increases in recent years have hovered around 1%)- and yet, 8% does NOT keep up with the cost of gas & heat, not even close. And food has risen between 15-45%. Eggs that were $1.99/doz 2 years ago are now $5.79. Close to 3x as much! Milk - 1/2 gallon was about $1.89, now $2.49. Cereal $1.29/box, now $4.59/box. But SNAP benefits cancelled...
