At last, the truth comes out about what we'd all assumed: The Iran hostages were released just minutes after Reagan's swearing-in according to a plan the Republicans hatched with the Iranian leaders, telling them they'd get a much better 'deal' under Reagan.
I was a columnist near Detroit at the time and I wrote about that day as it happened.
Here is my account from 1/20/1981.

@RamonaGrigg makes me angry all over again. I was in my car traveling halfway across the country for my first job when it came over the radio that the hostages were released. It upset me at the time before even all the rumors throughout the years. Carter was a good man and would have made a bigger difference in the country given a second term.
@Debnumbers
I'm glad this is coming out now. This year may be the time we're finally going to reconcile the madness we've had to endure from the Republicans for too many decades.
I'm with you--it just infuriates me when I think of what they did to Jimmy Carter. But look who's most revered now!

Ah, that sunny Mr. Reagan. Negotiating against the democratically elected government of the US, all in the service of the country’s budding oligarchy
