AgonLight2 - Z80 BBC Basic Retro Single Board Computer

@ukscone @olimex

BBC basic on Z80 just feels... wrong. It was created for a 6502 based computer and hot-dang it should stay that way. 😄

More seriously, does it still have an inline assembler (z80 of course) since that was one of my favorite things about my Acorn Electron,
I could code fast assembler routines inline with my main program and call them like a function. Just like c-python etc but in the mid 80's

@easytarget @olimex Yes Z80 BBC BASIC has inline assembler.
@ukscone
That's pretty cool, thank you.
@easytarget @olimex the port for the AgonLight has it as well and I think Dean plans to make able to use eZ80 extended mnenomics too eventually not just 8bit Z80 ones
@easytarget @olimex they had to do it for the Z80 as the 6502 is so yucky :-) /me ducks lol

@ukscone @olimex
No need to duck, 40 years has mellowed me ;-)

In fact, Z80 assembler from BBC basic was on my mind, I've been driving my CNC with an Amstrad #NC100, which has BBC basic with z80 assembler too.

NC Series - CPCWiki

@easytarget I have an NC100 unfortuately the LCD got smashed during a move and the guy who had replacements and could swap them seemed to disappear about 6 months before i needed it so it's been sitting in a box for over a decade :(
@ukscone
That's a shame, it's a fun little box to play with. CP/M and all sorts of goodies.
Mine is pristine, but lacks a sram-pc card, you can get them at outrageous prices (hundreds of $ per MB) since old NC factory machinery uses them... Nostalgia.
@easytarget still have a couple of SRAM cards. Not sure where I put them but I have them unless kid went nuts on one of his cleaning binges. iirc I was using UZI on it

@ukscone
If you find them, check out the ebay prices, maybe buy the kid a meal for not throwing them out ;-)

When I last looked, years ago, they were 150-200 money units 2'nd hand. There was someone making and selling small batches for 130'ish a pop.

I have a old (2005 era) pcmcia wifi adapter, one day I want to rip that apart and install a sram chip (maybe a 2/4MB one, with a selector switch for each 1MB bank). One day....
