Gary Lineker further demonstrates his consumate skill as a communicator.
@paul_convery fuck, at this point, I'm thinking Lineker for PM. 🤷‍♀️

@Tattie @paul_convery he is lucky enough to have a platform that most of us can only dream of. And that makes me feel uneasy about suggesting he should go into politics.

But sometimes you have to use the system to break the system, and I guess we're at that point.

The thought had crossed my mind too.

The thing that really worries me is:
Journalism is a very important part of democracy. It balances power. If power starts to take over Journalism, if people are called upon to speak the opinion of the government, it stopps being useful. Democracy starts to limp and become sick.

How can it be that the BBC, a beacon of truth and good journalism, is about to dwindle into a propaganda tool?
How can this be?

It really worries me.

@paul_convery

After all, what Gary Lineker said is not without justification:
The Third Reich began with a changed language, with dehumanization and acts on the fringes of law. Hitler and his henchmen didn't take power all at once. Step by step they built what we now know as Nazi Germany.

He is more than right when he warns us all to be careful.
