Word comes from @neilhimself that the wise and wonderful Rachel Pollack is about to embark on her final journey. I've known her for 40 years, and if you haven't had that privilege, join us for lunch during better times to learn why she is such a treasure. https://scottedelman.com/2018/08/24/dive-into-vietnamese-seafood-noodle-soup-with-rachel-pollack-in-episode-75-of-eating-the-fantastic/
Dive into Vietnamese Seafood Noodle Soup with Rachel Pollack in Episode 75 of Eating the Fantastic ‹ Scott Edelman

@ScottEdelman @neilhimself Oh, no! Her Godmother Night was one of the formative books of my teens - possibly the first real-world fantasy novel I ever read that wasn't a children's book. I picked up a proof, pretty much at random, in a secondhand bookshop when I needed a book for a coach journey. Read it to death (I still have the pieces, shelved alongside the replacement copy). It was almost another 20 years before I learned anything about her life story.

@ScottEdelman

There appears to be a GoFundMe set up last year for hospital care.

@ScottEdelman @neilhimself - I read that she is gone already.
@ChazBrenchley @neilhimself I only know that as of 49 minutes ago, she was still with us. If there was an update to this post, I missed it.
@ScottEdelman @neilhimself - thanks, Scott. I am very happy to be corrected about this.

@ChazBrenchley @ScottEdelman @neilhimself Thank you, all, for alerting me that Rachel Pollack is soon to cross the veil. Her #tarot books and offerings are foundational--she is a mother of modern tarot. While I've not met her in person, we have friends in common.

We're fb friends and the outpouring of love for her is tremendous.

May her journey continue in love and beauty, and her wife and loved ones find comfort.

@ScottEdelman Sad. I haven't had many interactions with her, but we had overlapping friend circles for a time, and I genuinely adored every conversation I had with her.
