When it comes to Red-bellied #Woodpeckers, I noticed that for some reason, I see the females more in the warm season and the males more often during colder weather. Interestingly enough, they very rarely visit the tree cam whereas the Downys love it there. #birds #birdsofMastodon #Ostdrossel
jeffsussna@Ostdrossel how do you tell the difference? (we get downies and red bellied at our bird feeder)
@jeffsussna The female has a greyish/ blueish part on the forehead before the red begins, the male is all red on the head.
