I just attempted to boot into a LiveCD of a Fedora KDE image and not only did it take multiple tries to get my desktop to even properly attempt to boot to the USB drive, it then proceeded to dump me into a terminal with no instructions and would not properly boot from my Windows drive when I tried to switch back to see what went wrong.

So basically I'm not that kind of Trans, is what I'm saying.

Second time is the charm and I am suddenly reminded the degree to which I rely on really weird control changes I've implemented in software with Windows to actually control things here, that would not be available by default in Linux.

Like, "scroll wheel expands/minimizes windows" weird. Mouse button 4 is a middle click, everywhere and all the time. My Home/End/Delete/etc. cluster is customized and the physical keys moved so I know what's what.

So switching could be Some Work.

@unworthyBeatrix
Wow and I thought I customized too much.

I switched from Qwerty to Dvorak on 2014. I love typing now, it's so much more comfortable, but gaming has been often a struggle. And it's just a terrible experience using accent diacritics (I spent half of my writing time writing Portuguese, and I often switch to my phone just to avoid the trouble).

I've started considering dropping my customizations this year... :(

@unworthyBeatrix I tried Pop_OS (a variety of Ubuntu) back in Nov/Dec and managed to totally bork it to an unbootable, unrecoverable state by doing too much customizing 😅 I would really like to go back to macOS keybinds where alt is the primary modifier because it's more ergonomic but doing it on Win11 consistently across all programs seemed impossible. If you have any hot tips in that direction I'd love to hear them!
