Oh my @notjustbikes latest video on SUV's is quite the cathartic experience.

Once a younger and dumber version of me upsized from Honda Civic to a Suzuki Grand Vitara for camping and off-road stuff that I used like twice. The rest of the time it was a pig to drive in the city and I hated it. And it's SMALL compared to modern SUVs and Utes.

It was a really happy day when we got rear-ended and had it written off. We bought a Honda Jazz (Fit) and haven't looked back.

@milesmcbain I will never understand people's need for bigger cars. If I ever have a car I'd want the tiniest car I can get away with, so I can park it wherever I want and also spend less on fuel. Something like the Renault Twingo, which is relatively tiny but weirdly spacious.

@eliocamp Over here in Australia large vehicles have kind of been surfing this wave of enthusiasm for camping and road tripping that has come post-COVID.

It's all marketing, of course. *Somehow* people managed to tour this country with sedans and wagons in times gone by.

@milesmcbain Also, you can always just *rent* a big car for your once-a-year camping trip. It will probably be cheaper than lugging the damn thing all year through city streets.

@eliocamp Yeah I think to some degree people think that buying the car is buying the lifestyle. They imagine they'd do these idyllic things more if they just had the access pass the car companies tell them the large car provides.

I think this was a factor for me. But as I found out, I still had to work 5 days a week, and didn't have the time / energy for trips every other weekend amongst all the other things I had going on.

@milesmcbain @notjustbikes We wish we didn't need it at all, but his video made us love our little Kia Soul even more

Our next one will be electric though.

@milesmcbain @notjustbikes @ClintonAnderson we loved our 2015 Electric Kia Soul. I don’t know if they are selling Soul EV in the US anymore. The Chevy Bolt EV handles similarly and has a better range than our 2015 Soul had (I’m sure a more recent Soul would too.)

@annecrawf @milesmcbain @notjustbikes Ours is a 2020... We got it Oct 2019 and there was an electric Soul right beside it on the lot.... A few months later, Cv-19 hit and we parked ou car in our driveway for almost a year solid... Ask me how much we loooooved making THOSE car payments for something we weren't ever using lol

The Kia EV 6 seems like a nice electric, but even that is waaaaaay more car than my wife and I need.

Here's to better and better, but smaller and smaller batteries eh πŸ₯‚

@milesmcbain @notjustbikes SUVTanks to the front in ucrainewar.
@milesmcbain @notjustbikes really excellent video. Nails so many things.

@milesmcbain @notjustbikes The Honda Jazz is the perfect car. I mean the perfect car is a cargo bike but if that's not practical the Fit/Jazz is amazing. We're a family of four and it suits us well. 50 MPG (Imperial gallons admittedly). Reliable. Holds a TONNE of stuff (thus being called "Fit").
@Fuzzbizz @notjustbikes family of 4 here as well πŸ™Œ
