One conflict between me and some people who follow me on social media: I think it's difficult to describe what Fox is, they think it's easy.

Propaganda. Entertainment. Angertainment. Pro Wrestling.

My current description of Fox:

The commercial arm of a right wing political movement, specializing in strategic resentment and aggregated grievance in the attention economy, while behind the scenes it tries to be a kingmaker and party boss, riding the tiger of manipulated rage.

@jayrosen_nyu Kidding aside, it's as fine definition as I've seen. But reading it recalled what I said to Angelo Carusone back in 2010, "Our problem isn't agreeing on what the Right or Fox does. It's finding anyone willing to discuss even an approach to a possible remedy for a what they do; constitutionally, if at all possible—which it may not be."

His response: "we're just fucked."

I still concur with that. I'm just too stubborn to give up the hunt.

I am quite familiar with this quandry. I am also quite aware that my description is annoying as hell.

But I am equally annoyed by the breezy attitude that says, "It's propaganda, what else do you need to know?" "It's entertainment, what else do you need to know?"

@jayrosen_nyu I find it unfathomable that any critically thinking adult can still believe that rationale, which was sold to the public by Limbaugh apologists for decades, and about so many others since. And of course, no one sold it more than Roger Ailes and his agitprop network. It gave them all cover. Obviously, it still works.

Boggles the mind, doesn’t it?
I’ve suggested for years that we need a national plan to deal w the cult.
The main MAGA cult is the big tent where other branches of the cult reside. #ProLifeCult #GunCult there are a few religious cults, worst is the #DominionismCult
At some point, probably already happening, these people’s ideology will fall apart.

Frustrating.
It accelerated quickly come trump.
It was bad enough before.
The way they bashed the Obamas contributes to the cults of today.
Trump started the birther bs which has much to do w his installation in our WH.
The other RW “news” are just as crazy, maybe not as stupid as Faux.
