Pharmacies Walgreens and CVS allow employees with personal moral objections to decline to sell birth control to customers. Instead pharmacies should decline to employ people who refuse to sell anything that is legal.

Before abortion pills, Walgreens customers said they were denied birth control

Walgreens found itself back in the news after announcing that it won't offer abortion medication in 20 states with Republican attorneys general.

@amydiehl I have a moral objection to Qtips because they push ear wax further down the ear canal and may impede one’s hearing. I cannot, in good conscience, scan this product in my line.
@BlueintheSouth @amydiehl Hahaha, I’m sorry, you’ll need to use the
self-check out line. My ethics do not allow me to scan that item.
@amydiehl great, another store to remove from my list of stores I will ever buy from

@amydiehl Nobody with a functioning brain and a normal moral compass should buy anything from that shop. ☝️

As far as working there is concerned: It's a f*ckin' pharmacy - do your f*ckin' job and sell what people need. 🤬

And authorities should put pressure on them and tell them that they can lose their license.

What a sh*tshow. 🙄

@amydiehl I wonder what would happen (yeah, no, I'm pretty sure I know what would happen) if employees at sporting goods stores and, say, Walmart, decided that moral objections preclude them from selling guns and ammo to customers. Or vegan grocery store employees who have moral objections to the sale of meat products. Or we can even stick with drugstores -- what if drugstore employees have personal moral objections to selling alcohol and nicotine projects -- is it ok to just decline to sell them?
@amydiehl but yet they will sell tobacco and alcohol which kills more people
@amydiehl @inklings I don’t know when these people running these companies are gonna realize that right wing people are only like 30% of this country and it’s a really stupid business move to piss off 70% to make 30% happy. Proof that you don’t need brains to work up the ladder, just kissing the right asses
@amydiehl I wonder if they allow employees with personal moral objections to recording & passing on the health data of their customers to refrain from that too.

@amydiehl

The store is supposed to provide someone who has no objection to make the sale. Guessing this does not always happen.
