@GossiTheDog
I am really appreciate your advocacy in the MS Office security space.

My biggest complaint in this area (since a safe mode was added) is I don't want to have to enable macros just to print.

I mean, the Office product is rendering it in safe mode to the GDI anyway. Why can't they support printing that view?

99% of documents I download from external sources (usually standards or API/platform documents) I want to print to PDF and be done with macro-risk (I can strip all the java out of a PDF, though luckily as of yet I don't think there is an MS macro to java converter LOL). And the documents I deal with don't depend on macros for proper printing anyway.

What are your thoughts? (And/or can a home user leverage the macro disablement to solve the printing risk problem?)

@john_philip_bell @GossiTheDog I think you may be confusing disabling Protected View with enabling macros. Only the former you need to do to print. I think a big part of the problem has been those two info bars look so similar, but have very different consequences.
