I've been here less and less because, still, months after its popularity shot up, a significant percentage of Mastodon content is about how great Mastodon is. Like... I don't care. It's like ads for the movie theater before the movie. I'm already in the room, don't tell me why I should come in the room, show me why I should stay.
@BayAreaData Dude, I'm just glad you're still around here, however often you feel like showing up. I may not see as much Mastodon-great content as you do, but I can relate to that movie-theater-ad feeling. What can you tell about it: is it mostly coming from new arrivals, or people mourning what they lost over on other platforms, or people on your local feed? Or just everybody, generally and indistinguishably?

@allaboutgeorge It seems to be the old timers who’ve been around since Twitter imploded, and it’s common on my local feed as well. It feels like the typical nerd early adopter elitism, which is really digital hipsterism when you think about it.

And thanks, I keep meaning to be around more, but I haven’t really had the time to be around anything that’s not already part of my routine. Change is too exhausting when I’m busy.
