Local "politics" isn't called politics. Because it's not a separate thing. It's just living in community. It's part of the same dynamic as living in a family, a household, a neighborhood.
There are many roles for #elders. Retirement is not the end of a person's useful life.
Elders are available to mediate disputes. Elders are available to spend time with children. Elders can pursue their interests, teaching and learning. Whatever their interests and abilities.
There is no place for #police. The elders who are well suited to assist with disputes can help with that sort of thing. An elected council can help with those who break the community's rules. If there is a crisis of violence, neighbors who are trained and capable can help with this.
Basic needs are provided to the community by the community. "Making a living" becomes meaningless. Each person's labor helps care for everyone; everyone is cared for.
Crimes that arise out of fear of being unable to provide for oneself and one's family don't happen, because it's a non-issue.
Individuals can't become wealthy, but the standard of living of the community becomes better and better as people get to keep the fruits of their labor, instead of handing it all over for the profit of a few.
Crimes that arise out of jealousy for a better life occur less, as everyone has a good standard of living.
The community is responsible for education. Some children learn best in a classroom, and some don't. Educators are themselves educated well enough to suit the variety of learning styles of children. Elders who are inclined and capable can help with that. Apprenticeships are once more a thing.
Everyone learns what to do in a disaster. There are roles for nearly everyone, according to ability.
Because everyone is trained on what to do in a disaster, this is why we have capable people on hand in case of violence. Because that's a disaster too.
Because profit is not a thing, corruption for profit isn't a thing either.
Honesty and humility become key values. Giving shame is not. Doing things "the right way" is not.
A culture of honestly admitting mistakes so that people can learn from them is cultivated.
The community does not need to prove "superiority" but rather to seek the path that works best for all its members.
Process improvement to constantly redefine and refine best practice becomes the norm.
