Why is it that every new pedestrian crossing is designed to turn into a lake each time it rains, so that being a pedestrian means multiple soakings whilst you wait to cross as every driver ploughs through them?

Zero thought for pedestrians as always. How does this crap ever get signed off?

@goo The bike lane looks horribly designed, too.
@CASSCFenjoyer The whole pedestrian & cycling infra design implemented during the tramworks on Leith Walk is a shambolic mess. Just Google Leith Walk cycle lane & see!
@goo When the majority of your voters are car drivers, you care about them, to the detriment of non-car-drivers. Even if those car drivers would be much happier as non-car-drivers. Self-inflected misery.
@goo Sounds like Toronto. Pedestrian and public transit policy are made by people who experience the city behind tinted glass in a limousine.
@goo
After all: it's not a bug, it's a feature!
@beatekurth
@goo I resent every pedestrian crossing that isn't raised (which is pretty much all of them in my city) for this reason. The added safety is a welcome bonus.
@Habigelo @goo raised crosswalks are The Way. Does double duty in that they slow down drivers right at the point of conflict
