More of that sweet, sweet Free Speech that conservatives so cherish as guaranteed in the Constitution they so love. For all the discussion of cancel culture and infringed speech from the right, this is literally the specific infringement that the First Amendment forbids -- infringement by the State. (The 14th Amendment extends this prohibition to states, not just the Federal government.) I mean, the GOP is just crapping on the Constitution in plain sight, now.

@augieray

Maybe it is a lucky thing that DeSantis is going after Disney, because they must have an army of lawyers just waiting for a potential Supreme court case like this?

@Tazor I doubt Disney welcomes the attention or cost of fighting this stuff--but I'm sure they're prepared to do so.

@augieray

I believe IBM's lawyers were called "the Nazgul". I wonder what Disney's lawyers are called 🤔

@augieray None of the state GOP parties accept the legitimacy of any amendment after the tenth. (Snarky would be "after the second".)

They truly believe that they own their state, as one might own some material dead thing that had never been alive.

@augieray we need to stop pretending their actions are based on some logical framework. They want control. That’s it.

Any rationale they use today to justify whatever action they are taking can be flipped or thrown away when it is no longer convenient.

Trying to present thoughtful and nuanced arguments is pointless. Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone has figured how to communicate to them any better.
