Hello. Im new on Mastadon. This is my first post ever! By now I understand very little about it. Am I writing to the void or does it go into some kind of stream for people to see? I am glad to finnaly find alternatives to the BIGTECK platforms. Im still not convinced that it is true

@AndyRocket hello and welcome to the party 🎉! Make sure you follow some interesting people to populate your home timeline and curate what shows in your home timeline. There's no "algorithm" to automagically do it for you. Gotta get social :)

@eg0n Hello . Eg0n. Really Nice music! It’s right up my alley. I listend many tracks! I have a question for you. Im having a very jumpy experience on this platform. Im not able to read Even one message before its gone🤷‍♂️And right now Im not able to make a public post about it.. do you have any ideas ..why that could be?

@AndyRocket sounds like you're looking at the public federated timeline. That's basically everyone in the world, and some phone apps and the browser have it automatically update in real time. Obviously that's too much to read!
There are a couple options here;
1. I use Tusky on Android, which only updates that timeline when I manually do it. I can look at a snapshot in time and get updates when I want!
2. Disable auto update of the federated timeline.
3. Look at the local timeline. The defcon.social instance isn't too active to keep up with in real time :)

Thanks for the music compliment ! It's fun to play with analog signals. No DAW or MIDI here! ;p

Yes! The analog sound is the best! It is actually very interesting how we can feel the difference from pure currents like that to midi..
