Lucky for y'all interviewing is terrible so I get to keep self funding mastodon android development.

New build just went live with nested scrolling for replies

please share/boost for visibility ❤️

BTW I can't see my mentions, not there yet or am I doing it wrong?
@timbray not sure I follow - if you are looking for a mentions tab/screen that has not been implemented but you should see statuses you mention/boost in the home tab

@friendlymike

Yep, was looking for the mentions tab/screen. The reason I like Mastodon is the conversations so that's the #1 gating factor for me. I like the look of the app so far! BTW, what is the "@" at the bottom going to be?

@timbray that'll be your mentions tab link, let me get that in after finishing the account switching tab

@friendlymike

Ah, I thought the little bell at the top right would be mentions (that's the glyph some other apps use), but I like “@” for mentions.

@timbray the bell will be all notifications while the @ will be mentions.

Thoughts?

@friendlymike
Ah, OK. Most apps have a double-tab screen for notifications/mentions, I don’t really have strong feelings pro/con. But: Once you've been here long enough to have a few thousand followers, notifications (boosts/faves/follows) become pretty useless. I think of what is conventionally called "mentions" as "conversations" and that's where the Fediverse's real value is for me (can't speak for others).
@friendlymike @timbray Maybe have a merged mentions/boosts/etc. as an option? I like them all in one stream, but my follower count is low (~700) so quite manageable. Might be different for popular folks!

@thomholwerda @timbray the notifications button would show all notifs, mentions would be just conversations. The display of each (and location) will be configurable

Everybody wins!

@friendlymike @timbray Excellent! The Mastodon client landscape on Android is already very good, but I'm always open for more and it's a ton of fun to follow the development process like this!
@friendlymike I feel like there's something off with scrolling. Why do posts sort of jump at you? Scrolling doesn't feel smooth if that makes sense
