I really don't know about living in America. I really hated it as a child and I feel I have roots here.

On the other hand, I would have a much nicer house and a lot more money and possibly a pickup.

@jonconnorton Where did you live?
@Comus In Fresno, California. 50C in the summer, poor and pretty high in crime. Not the finest city over there. Also not the happiest time of my life.
@jonconnorton How so?
It is often the combination of such things.
Also, although usually your body works better, being young is not easy.
@Comus My father was a bad sort. When my Mum ran away and smuggled us to England, it made things a lot safer. Well, at least until he found us.

@jonconnorton Ouch!
Also your poor mum.

Does this mean you have /are eligible for US citizenship, so are comsidering your future options?

@Comus She had a very rough time in her youth.

No, I had residency, it no longer. But my work would probably sponsor me if they want me out there. It wouldn’t be tough, given my qualifications.

@jonconnorton You sound tempted.
Tough choice.
My inner Eeyore thinks the UK is in a sinkhole with no 'Sunlit Uplands' in view,
but also thinks the US may be in the process of violently tearing itself apart.
I think there are better options to either.
Kind of wish I had gone that route when half-heartedly considering it way back when.
@Comus I’m probably erring towards staying. I did live in Germany for a while in my late twenties, but sadly that option has been taken away from me.
