Well post.news has locked me out of my account and the password reset procedure doesn't work. I keep reseting passwords and the new one also fails.

I wonder if the whole site is glitching or just my account.

I've been thinking of ditching the place anyway due to its funding, so maybe this is the step that does it.

I mean, I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right. The password a16zGoatf$ckrs has upper and lower case, a number, and symbol....

@ct_bergstrom Maybe you can get an invite to BlueSky? I'm still waiting for the Twitter replacement. I'm afraid Mastodon and Post.news are not it.

If tech history is any indication, the "next Twitter" isn't one any of us are talking about yet, won't be the same, but hopefully will provide a better public square.

@michaelsmith2nd @ct_bergstrom Is Blue Sky still burning up the environment with blockchain though?

I think Mastodon/Fediverse is the next it, because we're about to hit 10 million users. Already it's better than 2010 Twitter, and the app ecosystem is exploding with new ideas.

@skry @ct_bergstrom Maybe... I can't find engaging content here on Mastodon and I know I'm not alone.

CTB has some great threads but the discoverability here is limited and thus so is the addictiveness. I don't think Mastodon will reach the hundreds of millions active users mark.

Besides, there's still two @Angie_rasmussen @[email protected] and I can't remember which one is real
🤦‍♂️

You only follow 24 people, which is why you're not seeing much of interest. In order to populate your timeline you need to follow maybe 1000 people, and depending on your interests, maybe follow some hashtags as well. My TL is full of great stuff.

For news, import the spreadsheet of journalists to your account settings. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13No4yxY-oFrN8PigC2jBWXreFCHWwVRTftwP6HcREtA/edit?resourcekey=undefined#gid=1320898902

People can verify their accounts by posting a link on a site or account they control.

You can also go to the Explore area of your account and see what's trending on your server, or look at that on any other server. https://mastodon.social/explore

Once your timeline is populated by a good number of follows, you can use https://news.feedseer.com/ to find trending topics as well.

If you're using the web rather than a mobile app, you can turn on the setting for "advanced view" and then "slow mode" to get a Tweetdeck type UI. That will allow you to open hashtags in a column, which you can then pin or follow or read.

Also, only hashtags and account names are searchable, so for reach you must use hashtags in your posts.
