Researchers launched a solar geoengineering test flight in the UK last fall

The experiment, largely designed to test equipment, took place despite deep concerns about the technology.

A great disbeliever of geoengineering, I dislike even more people who pretend they can decide for others what questions are permissible.

I very much want it tested, trialled, assessed.

@iinavpov @jtemple But what should be the test period? Let’s say we do test it for 5 years and all trails are a success. Global temps are down and we are no longer suffering the effects of global warming. However, 10-20 years down the line we discover that partially blocking the sun rays (however a minute amount) caused our planets to not grow and we have more viruses now (the sun is a pathogens killers). Isn’t this effect even worse than global warming? For me, I see a huge risk for unintended consequences. That’s just my opinion and I could be wrong.

@khaldoondev
That's just an argument for more tests. The alternative is that some idiot will do it at scale without control or knowledge just because.
