I wonder what the most a set of floppy disks has ever been sold for. These from John Romero might get past $1000 soon. https://mastodon.social/media/ql59Jy0X1LrZ6nzYP0E
It didn't take that long to go over $1000. Seriously. almost $250 per floppy. That must be close to a record? https://mastodon.social/media/XLug6UJJrbgzc1IZN1M
@wilkie I'm told there are old PC-98 Touhou Project games on floppy going for $10k+, although I can't verify it right off.
@Nezchan that seems very high!! some of the rarest games I've seen go for $1000+ but they were complete and mint to near-mint. but even that's an excessive price.

@wilkie A bit more digging uncovers this deal, with the entire set of PC-98 Touhou titles going for about $25k USD. But that's five games and includes manuals and additional artwork. So not a really fair comparison.

The $10k may be exaggerated.

@Nezchan fascinating. that's so much money! probably priced a bit too high. it's around $22k so about 4.5k per game. yikes. I guess there's a market tho.

@wilkie @Nezchan

all this is telling me

is that I should be getting physical copies of games that become "instant classics" the instant they go on sale

stick them in a fire safe

and cross my fingers that my investment of 15-30$ will somehow multiply by a factor of one to ten thousand after a decade or so and pre-nostalgia sets in
