Greetings from Japan! As part of my German-Japanese Enegy Transition Council trip, I am squeezing in several academic visits. This one on Monday to Kyoto University, which is beautifully located next to the Kamogawa river. Here I am meeting with representatives of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies. Just like our @RL_Institut Off-Grid-Systems team they are working on the energy transition in Southeast Asia.
And I held a seminar at Doshisha University on Tuesday. I was invited to talk about the European energy crisis and the commodity market developments, which I wanted to contrast with the German energy transition. Japan is struggling with wholesale energy market price increases as well and is (only? also?) slowly adapting to the new situation. As industrialized countries heavily dependant on energy imports, we've maneuvered ourselves into quite a situation in both countries!
