Not sure who needs to hear this today, but remember, your local public library benefits from being used! Usage statistics are how librarians argue for funding! By using this shared service more, you are making it BETTER for everyone else!

It's the glory of the commons, not the tragedy of the commons. Go to the library!!!

I now feel less guilty about having so many interlibrary loan books shipped back and forth across California just for me
@joemo if you live in California did you know that you can get library cards from any California library, as long as you can show proof that you live in California? I have 14 California library card. It makes it easier to find the books I want on Libby app when they are available instead of waitlisting.
@blackcatranch @joemo Intriguing -- how do you do it? My kids keep running out of downloads on their local library cards. 😥
@quinnanya @joemo I live in California - I have 14 California library cards and most of them have limits of 5-15 books for up to 22 days each. I try not to borrow more than I can read at one time and return early if I finish early
@blackcatranch @joemo Poking around on various library websites, it looks like some of them make you come in in-person to get a full service card and the virtual cards are only available for immediate residents? Do you know of any libraries that will let you just apply online?
@quinnanya @joemo for all California libraries, they require that you show up in person to show your state issued identification and proof of address for the first time and then you can renew by phone after three years or whenever the card expires. I drive around the state a lot, so I just stop and get library cards wherever I am.
@blackcatranch @joemo Good to know, thank you! I think we've got a new project on our hands!
