Until people pay .01 percent of the attention to the dangers of incredibly common and sometimes ghoulish interventions to shrink the body — like keto, ozembic, and weight-loss surgery —that they pay to rare and mild hormonal treatments for teens, I will not believe the trans “inquiries” are well-intentioned.

@virginiaheffernan THIS RIGHT HERE. Also, don't even get me started on teenage nose jobs and breast implants (went to K-12 with two girls who had nose jobs in 11th grade and no one batted an eye).

@virginiaheffernan I'm pretty sure one of my cousins had liposuction in her late teens or early twenties. And they were on all sorts of fad diet teas and pills and encouraged by family bc the worst you can be in my family is fat.
