@tristansnell I look at this from a slightly different perspective for a moment - Trump brought the idea that the Federal Government was just a private corporation run by the President, who doles out benefits and punishments according to his personal interests.
DeSantis is extending that model to State government, as long as he is in charge of course.
And, I would submit that this has long been the model in many smaller county and town governments at many scales.
This is one of the dangers that the founders of our democracy were very well aware of.
