Jonathan@cwgrody I don't think the #padres are stupid. The long-term contracts are simply amortizing the deal to reduce the impact on the luxury tax.
I think you will see fewer prospects traded and more emphasis on building the talent pipeline. In 5 years that talent can start to replace the aging stars and by the time they need to be paid the big contracts are off the books.
