Today's question: do people really become more #conservative as they age, and (if so) what causes it?

I just had a conversation with a friend in which we were mulling over the obvious truth that we seem to be getting more and more politically #progressive as the years go by.

I started wondering whether the conservative trend is correlated with a strong #MiddleClass in the US. Do #elders who have have #money and #power just want to defend it?

I'm 67, so a young boomer. I have definitely become more progressive. I have a very comfortable life and a pension when I choose to retire. But I learned growing up to value the common good, and feminism shaped my life. I grieve how the idea of the common good has faded.
@pammack @Deborah909 @politics @sociology @histodons Agreed. I’m somewhere around the end of young boomer and beginning of GenX (‘Generation Jones’ to some!) What really bothers me is seeing all those civil rights that were hard fought for in my childhood dissolving into conspiracy theory and ‘divide and conquer’ populism over the past decade.
